Excellent statement piece by artist and silversmith Walter Dorin, a Santa Fe native. Walt's silver jewelry has been featured in the film Dances with Wolves and his expert knowledge is sought after by local artists. At it's core function, Walt's goal is down to earth: mostly, he says, "I want to make are that people will keep and wear for a long time and hand down to their grandchildren." This piece is a large sterling silver OVERLAY on another metal underneath. Concho belt with eleven unique conchos. Leather on belt buckle and closure. There are some spots of verigris on the conchos. Belt length measure 32 inches from buckle to first hole on leather belt closure and so could be adjusted smaller with other holes. Belt is substantial and weights 597 grams. Conchos measure 2 1/4 inches by 2 1/4 inches. Leather strap measures 1 inch. Very unique and beautiful piece of art to wear. Very good condition with slight wear as expected with this preloved item.
